Community Heat Pumps in Parks?

A friend shared a link to this scheme with me: https://www.wearepossible.org/powering-parks

We are lucky enough to have a number large open park spaces, and a lot of properties that may not be suitable for their own heat pumps.

Could this be something that BANES could consider to create community energy networks around the parks?

  • Hugh Prentice been following the swaffham scheme. Massively supportive of the concept but I'm not sure its going to be something that happens widespread due to the cost and timescales required.

  • In a similar theme - A pioneering heat network in the Cambridgeshire village of Swaffham Prior is aiming to use a hybrid heat pump system, coupled with a solar farm, to provide ultra-low carbon, affordable heating for every resident, business and school.

A clever combination of ground and air source heat pumps, solar farm and district heating...

With so many villages in BANES using oil for domestic heating - can this approach be adopted here?
