The first in our Community Climate Champions Series

We’ve invited Steve Cross, volunteer for Go Green Widcombe (part of the Widcombe Association) to discuss how they have been supporting residents to increase renewable energy generation. Steve will outline their project, aims and process that they’ve followed as well as sharing key tips and insights from a community group perspective.

One successful initiative has been raising awareness with residents of Solar Streets, an offer from Westbury-based solar panel installer IDDEA. Over 20 homeowners in the Widcombe area have had roof surveys and six of those homes are now generating their own electricity via newly installed rooftop solar panels. As a small group-buy scheme, the cost to the homeowner has been up to 15% below the expected market price.

IDDEA have expanded the catchment area meaning that the offer is open to homeowners within four miles of Bath city centre

If you're a community orgnaisation wanting to learn from Go Green Widcombe's approach, or live with the catchment area for this current offer, please do come along.

All are welcome at the meeting, though it will be especially relevant to those in areas including: Bath City Centre, Weston, Newbridge, Larkhall, Fairfield Park, Bathford, Batheaston, Bathampton, Bathwick, Bearflat, Oldfield Park, Combe Down, Odd Down, Southdown, Moorlands and Twerton.

After the presentation there will be opportunity for questions and discussion.
